Ritual by Untamed Circus – Fringe 2025 Review

Untamed Circus delivers an extraordinary and hauntingly beautiful performance with Ritual,
an intoxicating fusion of aerial arts, cyr wheel, fire spinning, juggling, and acrobatics. This is
not your typical circus show—it is something far more raw and immersive, drawing the
audience into a world where movement tells a story of power, transformation, and mysticism.
From the opening moments, Ritual establishes itself as a performance steeped in
atmosphere. Dim candlelight flickers across the stage, casting elongated shadows as
performers move with hypnotic precision. The synergy between the artists is unmistakable;
each movement is executed with a fierce, almost primal energy, their bodies exuding
strength, control, and a commitment to the narrative.

The aerial acts are particularly mesmerising. Women’s bodies twist and descend through silk
with a breathtaking display of control, rolling downward with the slow inevitability of fate
itself. The performers possess an awe-inspiring command over their performances, whether
suspended mid-air or spinning effortlessly within the cyr wheel’s orbit.

But Ritual does not exist solely in the sky. On the ground, the fire spinner manipulates
flames with hypnotic grace, the juggling is entertaining, and the acrobatics hold an intensity
that borders on the spiritual. Each act folds into the next, woven together with a theatricality
that is both intimate and grand, invoking something ancient, something otherworldly.
What makes Ritual so compelling is its moody darkness—it embraces the edge of circus
arts, pushing past spectacle into something emotive. There is beauty, but it is a fierce,
untamed beauty, one that demands attention and lingers after the final bow.

With its dramatic lighting, evocative soundtrack, and fearless performances, Ritual is a
darkly enchanting spectacle and a wonderful showcase of skill. It is circus with a soul, a
breathtakingly intense experience that leaves audiences spellbound.
