The Storm

By Garry King

My heart beats like the waves crash in the sea
My head is misty like the fog in a forest
You can’t see it, everything is confusing now.
My thoughts are like a crashing building
Everyone is screaming, I can’t make a clear voice,
How can I possibly endure this storm.
Then, slowly the fog lifts, the water calms
The rubble from the fallen building settles down
Things are becoming more clear
I can hear the screams ease away
The boat gently stops rocking
I think to myself I am calm.
Rebuild the boat, fixing the fog lights
Reconstruct the building once more
Pray every night to save from storm
But always be ready to challenge the storm
Oh! My tools are breaking down
And I desperately seek new ones
