Stitch

By J V Birch

We have limited time.

It screams when you lose someone.

Life is short;

make fun of it!

I recall the advice from a counsellor—

Be kind to yourself.

If you want that dress, buy it.

If you need more sleep, lie in.

If you don’t feel like working, don’t.

I was surprised by the last one.

Today I’ve three deadlines.

It’s a blue sky one.

I cycle to the beach

am absolved by a glittering vista

spot a pod of dolphins

threading the waves

sea
