Shattered

By Edona Dzemaili

Shattered

Her heart shattered
With each savage lash ice froze flesh
And in the attempts of a brave little girl to save a scrap of what she had lost
Each bit of her was coated in cement
Her soul now remains in an unbreakable glass box
Somewhere in a dark abyss full of hurt pain and shame
Somewhere in a place where memories are forgotten
Where promises are untold,
Where dreams are burnt to ash
And the reflection left in the wake of all this destruction is enough to scare even the most courageous
