Open Willingness

By Joanne Goodfellow

OPEN WILLINGNESS

I remove my shoes
to step outside
on to sacred ground

the chill of the earth
on a mid July morning
awakens my breath
as an elusive vail of woodsmoke clouds
rain down on us

for a moment in time
streaks of bright, white, light, appear
I look up, in search of a band, of familiar colour
giving my consent to the sun
as it kisses the top of my head

there is not a single thing
more perfect
than the intangible truth

I let nothing disturb
this moment
here with you

the space between my ears
it is quiet now

lift me up into this place
let me see what nonsense is
shatter my senses

I am ready
