Coming of Age

By Gino Pignone

Coming of Age

It is the dawning of an age
where the world is coloured
by echoes of your heart beat,
while upon such virgin paths
your travels behold such wonders,
which will be forever etched
within your mind –

Let not the limitations of your youth
make you a spectator
of the games we play,
for rivers of such dreams, will in time,
become oceans upon your soul –

And in the fullness of your years
you will wade within these waters,
if only to ignite
the child within once more –

So seize the dawning of each day,
and let not
one moment pass unattended,
for such treasures will be forever lost
if your steps are halted,
never daring to tread upon the day.
