Blue Boy

As you laid still in my belly, I knew your heart had stopped; my heart stopped beating too. A safe chamber, my womb, a breath at a time, as I laboured through the pain of a death rebirth.

After your birth, you weighed five pounds and we called you our ‘Blue Boy’.

Our ‘Blue Boy’, we held you tight in your blue wrapped bundle and knew your squirming and belly play had choked you on my food cord, in a water world, my water baby.

How we loved you, light as a feather, in a death’s slumbering sleep, drowning blues running down our cheeks, bless you, clean you, baptise you in tears.

The couple found coupling, after
The ashes to the wind scattered.

Chorus waves sing betide
Be gone oh little child.

Oh sweet angels
Hands do not shun.
