Behind the Steel Door

By Lorraine Moore

BEHIND THE STEEL DOOR.
The light is dim
in this dark gloomy room
a small figure sits on a
white plastic chair
she hums a tune
rocking back and forth
the white plastic chair creaks
she pulls, the old
hand knitted cardigan
tightly around
her small frame
piercing blue eyes
steel door to open
knowing it won’t
she knows they are watching
biding their time
she also can
bide her time
the white plastic chair creaks
she continues to
hum a tune.
