Be a Good Enough Mum

By Georgia Margetts

Be a Good Enough Mum
Well, that’s what they say
‘Motherhood’s sunshine and rainbows!’
Why is mine cloudy and grey?
Be a Good Enough Mum
But what does that mean?
Baby gurgles and giggles
I just want to scream
Be a Good Enough Mum
I’m trying my best
First take care of baby
Then Mummy can rest
Be a Good Enough Mum
Take a breath, keep it in
Hold it there, let it out
Now we can begin
Be a Good Enough Mum
Learn that baby’s OK
They can cry and be fussy
They’ll be alright while you’re away
Be a Good Enough Mum
I’m starting to learn
Let baby be on their belly
Watch them wriggle and turn
Be a Good Enough Mum
And sometimes do more
I can take care of baby
And manage some chores
Be a Good Enough Mum
Whatever that means
3 course dinners some nights
Others it’s just toast and beans
Be a Good Enough Mum
You can reach out your hand
Don’t be ashamed to need help
Lots of people understand
Be a Good Enough Mum
You’ve come so very far
Be a Good Enough Mum
You’re a Good Enough Mum
YOU ARE
