Curatorial Statement
“Everything I embody comes through my creative practice. Everything I am is a complex mix of mental illness, trauma and shifting identity. Creativity to me is like breathing and if I’m not doing it in some form I feel stagnant. It helps me unpack my mind and calm it.” Daria Healy-Koljanin
Daria is one of the feature artists leading this year’s group exhibition from mindshare—an annual, collaborative event showcasing South Australian artists living with mental health challenges.
By exhibiting extensively across Adelaide City this October, we at mindshare hope to create space for conversations around mental health and wellbeing. We believe that sharing and listening to each other’s stories—in whatever unique form they take—is key to building empathy and understanding.
This year’s mindshare Group Exhibition includes works from Life Without Barriers’ Living Arts program, Neami National’s Neami Arts, and practicing artists connected to mindshare.
Neami National would like to acknowledge the support of The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre in making their artwork available for the 2020 mindshare Group Exhibition.
mindshare is a creative portal supported by the Mental Health Coalition of SA.
