2020 Rural Grants Encouraging Creativity
Got a creative idea for a Mental Health Week event?
The Mental Health Coalition of South Australia has been funded by the Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network to allocate small grants of up to $1,000 to support creative Mental Health Week promotional activities throughout rural and regional SA.
We are taking a creative angle with our Rural Grants program this year, encouraging applicants to host exhibitions, art workshops, poetry nights or even zineshares!
To find out more information and download application forms please head here.
Applications close 5pm Monday 17 August 2020.
HI,
can you please tell me what a zineshare is please, mentioned in your paragraph above about creative ideas for mental health week?
thanks,
Mary Ann
Hi Mary Ann,
Zines are a simple, fun and accessible art and storytelling format.
Here’s an article about their origins: https://studybreaks.com/culture/the-resurgence-of-zine-culture-and-why-its-so-important/
You might also check out “How To: Zines” by Ariel Bissett on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6cUie23VII
A zine share is any event where people come together to share their zine creations – almost like an art exhibition or comic expo! Sometimes people host stalls and buy each other’s zines.
I hope this has been helpful.
Warmly,
Anna
