Lived Experience

What’s in a Name?

The PACE team is made up of support workers and peer workers, but what is the difference?

Support workers have qualifications and work experience in the area of mental health or community services while peer workers draw much of their knowledge and skills from a lived experience of panic anxiety, obsessive compulsive or an eating disorder.

Peer Workers perform many of the same duties as Support Workers, but they draw much of their knowledge from a lived experience of Panic Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive or an Eating Disorder. Peer Workers use the experience of their own recovery to provide help and support to those in need, as well as advising their colleagues in the PACE team about what it’s like to live each day with an anxiety or eating disorder.
